...as he dedicates award to the Speaker

The National Association of Kogi Youths, Kwara State Chapter yesterday bestowed an award on the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Okedare as the Best Grassroot Politician in the state.

While presenting the plaque to the honouree in his office at the Assembly Complex, the association Social Secretary, Mr. Natty Peters described the lawmaker as one of the best examples for other public office holders to emulate.

He noted that the association members, despite not being Kwara indigenes have over the years been following Okedare's antecedent right from his time at the local government level and how he had rose to the state deputy speaker's position.

Peters said the lawmaker is one of the few individuals in the public service who never allow their present status to get to their heads, thereby neglecting their Constituents as he always craved for the downtrodden well-being.

The social secretary explained that it is the association's little way to further encourage the legislator's selfless service to the state, noting that it would serve as good example for others to emulate.

Peters who congratulated the awardee however challenged him not to relent in his efforts in ensuring that dividends of democracy further spread to the less privileged in the society. Responding, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Matthew Okedare appreciated the gesture, saying that it would further spur him to do more for his Constituents and strive for Kwara's development.

Okedare who dedicated the award to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad for his confidence in him noted that he has been of tremendous assistance to him and has made him very active in lawmaking business.
