I Don't Reside At Govt House Again - Saraki

Date: 2011-11-22

The immediate past governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki yesterday denied reports that he still resides at the Government House, Ilorin two months after he handed over to his successor, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Saraki who said he had since relocated to Abuja to enable him perform his new legislative functions, attributed the rumour to the handiwork of some leaders of the state chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

The former governor broke his silence on the allegation through a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Alhaji Mas'ud Adebimpe.

The statement recalled that "Dr Saraki handed over to his successor, AlhajiAbdulfatah Ahmed on May 29, 2011. He left Ilorin that same day, and has since relocated to Abuja to undertake his responsibilities as the Senator representingKwara Central Senatorial District in the Senate of the Federal Republic ofNigeria."

It added "as part of his legislative duties, Dr. Saraki has had occasions to visit his constituents after his relocation to Abuja. He has also had occasions to visit his successor at the Government House in Ilorin and has had the honour of being hosted there for meetings.

"For the sake of emphasis, we want to restate that Dr. Bukola Saraki is not resident in Government House, Ilorin; he resides in Abuja".
