A Public Affairs Analyst , Comrade John Fasikun has called for the up-grading of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin to a Federal higher institution of learning .

Comrade Fasikun made the appeal on a Radio Kwara interactive programme, "The Platform".

According to him, the institution has been in existence for decades and is currently losing its age-long academic standard due primarily to lack of proper attention.

He frowned at the current state of the institution which had always given rise to persistent strike and pleaded with the Senate President, Doctor Abubakar Bukola Saraki to use his present position to treat the matter with utmost urgency towards safeguarding the future of the students of the institution.

Comrade Fasikun noted that the up-grading of the Institution to a Federal Government status would restore the lost glories of the Institution and raise its standard to an enviable height.

Callers on the programme also enjoined the Federal and States Governments to be considerate on the tuition fees levied by public institutions, considering the current economic situation. The contributors added that there should not be discrimination between the indigenes and non-indigenes in the Nigerian institutions in the spirit of nationalism.
