Voters registration: Kwara Speaker harps on youth active participation

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Dr. Ali Ahmad has called on the People of the State to participate actively in the on going Voters Registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC), to enable them perform their civic responsibilities.

The Speaker made the call in Ilorin, in his welcome address to members at the resumption of plenary by the Legislature

Dr. Ahmad, who said the exercise, was intended to among other things cater for Nigerians who had attained the age of eighteen after the last exercise, enjoined Kwarans to take full advantage of it, " since your vote is your power which should not be lost ".

The Speaker equally reiterated the stand of the House on the recent victory of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal saying that " the victory is a vindication of our belief in the fact the trial from inception was nothing but political persecution ".

Dr Ahmad enumerated the success recorded by the legislature in the implementation of its agricultural initiative, stressing that the members unanimously resolved to venture into farming to promote diversification of the economy and enjoined the people of the State, to take into farming.

He disclosed that the legislature would dedicate its energy to consideration of reports of public hearings conducted at the twilight of the last session on bills for consideration before the House.

He therefore urged the House standing committees to approach their assignments with zeal and resilience to make the House come up with good laws that would better the lots of the people of the State.

The Speaker praised the legislators, staff, the media for their commitment towards ensuring that the House provides the needed platform for good governance in the State.
