Police Warn of Robbers' Strategies in Kwara

Date: 2012-08-02

The Kwara State Police Command has alerted members of the public on current tactics being used by some commercial motorcyclists in Ilorin, the state capital, to rob unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables. The victims are mainly women with handbags.

Spokesman of the Command, Olufemi Fabode, told The Guardian in Ilorin that the Command would want members of the public to be vigilant, just as he said the police would promptly smash the syndicates behind the crime.

The motorcyclists, who operate commonly along Asa Dam Road, Basin Road, GRA and Murtala Muhammed Way, would reduce their speed on sighting a female pedestrian standing by the roadside only to snatch her bag and then speed off.

Sometimes, the motorcyclists often take their unsuspecting female victims to isolated areas and forcefully push them off their motorcycles and escape with their bags, leaving behind their agonising victims.
