The accused appeared in court on a one-count charge of defamation of character, contrary to Section 392 of the penal code law.

According to the charge sheet, the accused made an undertaking with the police over a disputed land not to do anything on the property until the court delivered its verdict.

The charge sheet said the dispute over the land was between the accused and another person who also claimed ownership of the property..

Olaoye was alleged to have gone to an Upper Area Court Grade 1 at GRA, Ilorin to write a direct complaint against the Force.

In the complaint, he was alleged to have said that one Emmanuel Ajirotuntun gave the police bribe, adding that the Force was taking sides in his favour.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Mathew Ologbonsaye, objected to bail of the accused on the ground that the offence was not ordinarily bailable.

But the defence counsel, Femi Makinde, argued that the offence was ordinarily bailable and urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.

In his ruling, Magistrate Shuaibu Olanikewu granted the accused bail in the sum N50, 000 and one surety in like sum while adjourning the case to Aug. 14 for further mention.
