Emir of Ilorin calls for calm, dedication at Eid-el-Fitr

Date: 2016-07-05

Nigerians have been urged to utilize the period of the completion of this year's Ramadan fasting to move closer to God and pray for the great potentials of the nation by fostering peace, security and stability.

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, who stated this in his pre-Eidul-Fitr Sallah press statement, sued for peaceful co-existence in the nation.

According to him, "Nigeria will make quicker progress towards the fulfillment of its great potentials as a nation if its citizens foster peace, security and stability which are essential for development by showing greater love, respect and humility for national safety and maintenance of public law and order."

Sulu-Gambari urged Nigerians to ensure that the lessons of commitment, dedication, tolerance and obedience learnt during the month of Ramadan, continue to reflect in their daily conduct with their fellow human-beings towards a greater Nigeria.

He,however, urged political office holders to live up to their campaign promises by engaging in rigorous restructuring of the nation's economy towards the benefit of the downtrodden.

While congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, the Emir urged the citizens to rejuvenate and reflect on the imperative of unity and peaceful co-existence in strengthening the bond of togetherness for a strong and virile nation.

He appealed to Nigerians to patiently await the announcement of the sighting of the moon marking the completion of the month of Ramadan by the Sultan of Sokoto.
