Muslim Group Condemns Abuja Bomb Blast
A group, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG), has condemned the bomb attack on the police at Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the group condemned all those behind the bombing and described the action as devilish.
It expressed regrets that terrorist attacks and security lapses in the country had upstaged the burning issues of power and energy, among other challenges.
In the seven-paragraph statement, the group called on the leadership of the two main religions in the country Islam and Christianity, under the aegis of Supreme
Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), to convene an emergency joint meeting to forge a way towards arresting the situation.
It also urged the Federal Government to declare Friday, June 24, 2011 a public holiday for special prayers by Nigerian Muslims against terrorists and terrorism in the country.
It said, “As believers in the Almighty God, we the citizens of Nigeria should consider taking the case of terrorists in our midst to the Almighty God, our Creator, in the form of prayers for His prompt intervention and rebuke of the evil doers.”
