My home coming is to repent, not to cause trouble - Ariyo
Alleged mastermind of last year's clash in Agbarere and Idi-Ape Communities of Ilorin, Olatunji Ibrahim popularly known as Ariyo, yesterday opened up on his detention at the custody of Kwara Police Command.
Ariyo, who was arrested recently was on Tuesday, paraded alongside alleged killer-lover, David Ogundele and some suspected cultists. They are Lukman Oladimeji, known as Zanda and Akeem Olayinka also known as Student. The State Commissioner of Police, Sam Okaula at the press briefing held at the Police Headquarters, Ilorin, said: "The command in its determination to fish out the culprit set up intelligence based unit which promptly arrested the said David Ogundele at Oba Ile town in Osun state".
The CP also said David has confessed to the crime allegedly committed. According to CP, seven suspected cultists were also arrested by the operatives of SARS while on intelligence patrol at Oke-Onigbin and Oko axis. The Commissioner added that the suspects would be arraigned at the court as soon as the police completed their investigation. Speaking with National Pilot, Ariyo said: "I did not fight with Agberere people intentionally. It was because one of my boys was 'dropped down' by the NDLEA men during the exchange of gun fire in a conflict.
"The officer came to our camp that he wanted to smoke weed, and one of my boys discovered that he was an undercover officer, disguised to be weed smoker. My boys tried to fight him and he ran out. He was given hot chase by my boys but he was lucky to be rescued by his colleagues. "That was how the trouble began. I lost one of my boys to those officers during a cross-fire. I was hinted that one of their officers lived at Agberere and we went to destroy his house too.
"When I heard that police was looking for me I ran to Lagos after the incident. I stayed at Isale Eko along Oja Oba area. That was where I stayed for some months but I'm tired of running. "That is why I came back to Ilorin. My home coming is not to cause trouble but to repent and seek for forgiveness. "I was squatting with one of my street younger brothers who is student at Kwara Poly at Eleko Yangan. That was how I got arrested while sleeping."
"I wanted to seek for forgiveness to go back to my former business as a meat seller. "I was selling India hemp before but I left the business in 2013. I began to sell meat at Mandate Market." On his part, David claimed to have been under spell when he killed his lover.
