Kwara explains delay in salary

Date: 2012-06-29

Kwara State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Demola Banu, has said the late arrival of the monthly allocations from the Federal Government to the state was responsible for the delay in payment of this month’s salary.

He said: "Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed is very much concerned about welfare of Kwara workers. Workers would be paid before the end of the month."

Banu said that the explanation became necessary because the state, which is the 33rd least paid out of the 36 states of the federation, depended largely on the federal allocations for survival.

He also warned of an impending financial crisis in many states of the federation over late release of federal allocation by the Federal Government because of the delay.
