The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly,Dr Ali Ahmad has disclosed that the state government has earmarked about N1bn for the completion of Ilorin phase II water reticulation project in the 2016 budget .

He expressed the hope that once the on-going reticulation is completed, the water scarcity in Ilorin metropolis would be a thing of the past .

The speaker also pledged that the assembly would ensure judicious spending of every money allocated for projects in the 2016 budget through constant oversight function.

Ahmad challenged the leadership of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union(IEDPU) and other developmental associations to fashion out means of addressing the problem of open defecation in the state capital.

Such an avenue the speaker said would enable the community to come up with a model toilet facility that every household would adopt to assist government in enforcing sanitation law.

Ahmad explained that instituting a bill to enable government arrest erring offenders might not solve the problem, saying that community-oriented solution to the menace would assist government in tackling it headlong.
