Kwara Deputy Governor seeks provision of First Aid boxes by Red Cross
The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira, has tasked the Red Cross Society of Nigeria to provide first aid boxes to ministries and offices in the state in line with its humanitarian and voluntary services.
Elder Kisira made the call on Friday while receiving members of the Red Cross Society, Kwara State Chapter, led by its Acting Chairman, Alhaji Isah Abass-Karara, in his office. He acknowledged the assistance of the Red Cross to victims of wars and other emergencies.
The Deputy Governor also called for synergy among the State Emergency Management Agency, National Emergency Management Agency and the Red Cross Society in emergency situation in addressing disaster, crisis and emergency situations. He urged the body to sustain the objectives of its founding fathers in providing humanity, selfless and voluntary services in emergency situations. Elder Kisira assured the organization of support in enhancing its activities across the state.
The Deputy Governor called for support from individuals and corporate organisations for the society to effectively carried out its enormous duties. He restated the determination of the state government to assist and support voluntary organisations in meeting the needs of the people.
Elder Kisira noted that the programmes of the society was in tandem with the policy thrust of the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration in Kwara State, charging the people to embrace peace to ensure the development of the state. Speaking earlier, Karara had enumerated the activities and successes of the Society since its establishment in Kwara State in 1967.
Karara sought for the support of the state government in enhancing its activities and organisation of the Red Cross Week billed for May this year.
