Tsaragi/ Share Crisis - Traditional Chief Seeks Demarcation of Boundary Zone

The Makama Tsarag, Alhaji Buhari Mohammed, has called for a physical demarcation of boundary zone to forestall future communal crisis between Tsaragi and Share communities in Kwara state.

Mohammed made the call while testifying before the commission of inquiry probing the recent clashes between the two neighbouring communities.

According to the traditional chief the measure became necessary in view of incessant communal crisis in the communities.

He also advised the state government to put physical structures in place to demarcate the areas belonging to the two communities.

The Makama Tsaragi, who said that the two communities had come a long way, added that there was the need to find a lasting and permanent solution to the lingering crisis for posterity.

He also said that creation of employment opportunities for the teeming youth of the areas would improve social interaction through such activities as sports and games among others.

Mohammed, who recalled that the community had recommended the physical demarcation of the contending zone between the two communities before the National Boundary Commission in 2013, said that the two communities could not live in isolation.

He also said that no efforts would be negligible at ensuring lasting peace In the area and called on all stakeholders to support the state government in its quest to find lasting peace in the area.
