Kwara Government makes case against pipeline vandalism

The Kwara State Government has appealed to the Federal Government to assist her curb the incessant menace of pipeline vandalism in the state.

The appeal was made in Ilorin, by Kwara State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira, while giving audience to members of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) who paid a courtesy call to his office.

The Deputy Governor, who described the activities of the vandals as criminal and disheartening, called for permanent solution to the menace in view of its threat to economic development.

Elder Kisira applauded National Assembly Committee for their courage and commitment to service and expressed readiness of the State Government in partnering with stakeholders towards bringing an end to the menace in the State and the country at large.

He however, expressed hope that the visit of the national lawmakers to the State would go a long way to provide a lot of Information which would translate into better service for the people.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman House of Representatives’ Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Mr.Dakuku Peterside said that the Committee members were in the State to access the level of pipeline vandalism in the State and problems confronting petroleum distribution in the area.

Mr Peterside pointed out that concerted efforts were being made towards replacing the use of kerosene with gas for domestic purposes.  He solicited the support of the State Government towards checkmating the menace so as to ensure value chain distribution of petroleum product to the State and its environs.
