Commissioners pay unscheduled visit to Sobi Specialist Hospital
In response to public concern on the state of Sobi Specialist Hospital, Alagbado, lIorin, the Kwara State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe, with his Health counterpart, Alhaji Suleiman Atolagbe Alege, paid an unscheduled visit to the hospital to have an on-the -spot assessment of situation at the Hospital.
Findings during the visit showed that the acute water shortage which had hit the hospital for some time now, has been hindering health delivery at the Hospital.
According to the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Sanni, two out of the three boreholes of the hospital were currently not functional.
A brief meeting with the hospital management revealed that repair work had commenced at the hospital and water supply was expected to improve soon. In the interim, the Ministry of Water Resources would be supplying water to the hospital regularly during the period of the repairs.
It was also gathered that sufficient medical personnel were on ground to attend to patients who needed the services of the hospital, adding that the hospital had been supplied with adequate medical consumables.
Alhaji Ajeigbe and Commissioner Alege respectively, thereafter advised the hospital management to improve on their services in order to enhance the health care delivery at the hospital.
They also directed the hospital management to improve on their patient-medical personnel inter-relationship to enable the hospital provide qualitative services while also assuring the general public that Sobi Specialist Hospital will continue to perform the roles and functions for which it was established for the benefit of all the people of Kwara State.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of the Health, Alhaji Abdulsalam A. Yusuf, the State Director of Information Services, Mr S.A. B Odeyemi and other top management staff of the ministries of health and information were also in attendance.
