Kwara Assembly summons police over robberies
The Kwara State House of Assembly yesterday mandated its Committee on Ethics, Public Petitions, Privileges and Judiciary to invite the Area Commander, Divisional Police Officer and other security personnel over increase of robbery attacks in Ilorin metropolis.
The resolution followed a motion by the House Leader, Alhaji Hassan Oyeleke. He lamented that robbery attacks were on the increase, adding that something urgent must be done to tackle it.
Other lawmakers who contributed to the matter enjoined police and members of the public to be vigilant to check the trend.
The Deputy Speaker, who presided over the plenary, directed the committee to submit its report on December 1st.
The House also directed its Committee on Commerce, Industries and Women Affairs to invite the Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR) state Ministry of Commerce and Cooperatives and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN) over the current fuel scarcity.
The followed a motion by the member representing Adena/Bani/Gweria Constituency, Alhaji Ba'aziki Suleiman. He said the situation has become unbearable, as children now trek to school.
The Deputy Speaker mandated the House Leader, Hassan Oyeleke, his deputy, Segilola Abdulkadir and Deputy Chief Whip, Ebun Owolabi, to be part of the committee to ensure that solution to the problem is found.
