Group hails Lai Mohammed's nomination as minister
Omu-Aran (Kwara) – The Kwara South United Forum has hailed the nomination of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressive Congress Party (APC) as a minister by President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The forum in a communiqué issued after a meeting in Omu-Aran, Kwara on Thursday, said that Alhaji Mohammed’s nomination had further underscored Buhari’s commitment to merit, competence and fairness in political considerations.
The communiqué was signed by retired Maj-Gen, Yemi Abidoye, the convener of the forum and Mr Rotimi Ogunwuyi, the forum’s interim legal adviser.
The forum said that it had no doubt in the capacity of the APC spokesman to live up to the expectations of both the president, people of Kwara and Nigerians.
It described Mohammed as an excellent, bilingual public relations expert, a lawyer, a bundle of intellectualism and political savvy.
The forum urged the “distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to demonstrate high commitment to national political ideals by screening the ministerial nominees dispassionately.’’
According to the forum, the senators have a duty to complement the efforts of the president in giving Nigerians a new direction of hope and national revival by embracing his anti-corruption philosophy and programmes.
The forum advised Mohammed to justify the confidence reposed in him by Kwara people and the entire Nigerians, if he scaled through the ministerial screening hurdles.
It urged Mohammed to work assiduously with other political office holders from Kwara in championing the cause of rapid socio-political development of the state.
The forum said it would continually monitor his performance in public office whenever he began his national political assignment.
It congratulated the people of Kwara South Senatorial District for having one of their own nominated for ministerial appointment by the president.
