We didn't write petition against Toyin Saraki - Kwara PDP
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday denied involvement in the invitation of Mrs. Toyin Saraki, the wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The Senate President’s wife was last week invited by the EFCC to appear before the anti-graft agency on Tuesday(tomorrow) in connection with some contracts executed by companies allegedly linked to her and her husband when the Senate President was the Governor of Kwara State.
The state PDP, in a statement by its Chairman, Mr. Iyiola Oyedepo, and Publicity Secretary, Chief Rex Olawoye, denied reports that the state branch of the party wrote a petition to EFCC against ex-governor’s wife.
It stated that the publication that the party was involved in Mrs. Saraki’s ordeal was politically motivated and emanated from those, it said, had issues with the Senate President and his immediate family.
It said, “The attention of our party, PDP, Kwara State chapter, has been drawn to a report by an online medium and newspapers titled, ‘PDP claims responsibility for Toyin Saraki’s EFCC ordeal’, and credited to our spokesman, Chief Rex Olawoye.
“First, Kwara State PDP dissociates itself from the said publications. The publication is the handiwork of dubious, desperate, faceless and spineless individuals or groups, who are always in the mass and social media to malign characters and damage their superiors in order to gain cheap popularity.
“We want to put it on record that Kwara PDP has never, at any time, written any petition against anybody in the state as far as the party is concerned. Kwara PDP has no hand in the imbroglio that is going on between the EFCC and Mrs. Toyin Saraki. We therefore emphatically state that all the statements credited to Kwara PDP are products/mechnisations of people who are disgruntled as well as spineless cowards.
“Kwara PDP views the publication credited to the party as being politically motivated and emanating from those who have issues with the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and his immediate family.”
