Ndigbo, Kwara indigenes in Lagos back APC

Date: 2015-03-26

An Igbo group under the aegis of Association for the Defense of Igbo Interest in Lagos, ADIIL, has warned Igbo indigenes living in Lagos not to be deceived by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that Igbo interest will be protected if President Goodluck Jonathan is re-elected.

He urged Igbos across the country to vote en-masse for the APC in the state and at the federal level in the forthcoming elections because it is the only party that can protect their interest.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Chairman of the group, Chief Chris Nwaokobia, said the PDP-led Federal Government is frantically inciting Ndigbo to fight their hosts, the Yoruba, for selfish interest of winning the election, noting that there was no significant federal investment in Igbo land since the Jonathan government came into power six years ago.

He said: “And the state of infrastructures in Igboland remains horrible even with several unfulfilled promises by Jonathan government.

“Our fate with the PDPled Federal Government, even in things that should be rightly ours in the Nigerian federation has been endless stories of lies, deceit and fraud played on the Igbo nation.

“Igbo land is where fuel sells at the highest price and where supply of dwindling light is at its very worst.

“Our roads remains the worst in the federation as Igbos find it difficult to move from one state to the other especially during rainy seasons.”

He called on Igbos across the country to vote enmasse for the APC in the states and at the federal level in the forthcoming elections. Nwaokobia said that Igbos had resolved to vote for the continuity in Lagos state and to vote for change at the federal level.

Also Kwara State indigenes residing in Lagos has denied giving their support to the PDP in Lagos, countering that it was a mere rumour.

Speaking in Lagos yesterday at a press briefing, Chief Coordinator of Kwara indigenes, Prince Ahmed Ajikobi, admitted constant visits from the PDP but said the group has always refuse the party’s persuasion, adding that Kwarans residents in Lagos are for the APC.

He said: “We Kwara indigenes living and trading in Lagos have agreed to support APC in all the 2015 elections. We have seen and benefitted from the good governance APC is administering both in Lagos where we live and Kwara where we come from.

“We have been part of the party and its National Publicity Secretary,

Alhaji Lai Muhammed, is our leader no matter how frequent PDP parades our homes, shops and offices, we are casting our votes for all APC candidates.”
