Emir Admonishes Nigerians to be Their Brothers' Keeper
The Emir of Ilorin Alhaaji Ibraheem Zulu Gambari has admonished Nigerians to stay by each other so as to sustain and develop the country. The Emir stated this when members of the Committee of registrars of Nigerian Universities CORNU paid him a courtesy visit in his palace.
Alhaji Sulu Gambari said expressed his happiness his honour to have such a delegation of National and brilliant administrators of Nigerian Universities. He said Nigeria is currently troubled with the situation of security while stating that it behooves on them to contribute their quota to Nigerians stability.
The Emir said while Americans declare their country as the Gods own country he describes Nigeria as Gods own Jungle as a result of the love he has for the country. The chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council said urged the registrars of the various Universities to work in harmony with their vice chancellors so as to help improve the standard of education in the country.
In his address, the chairman of CORNU and registrar Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Ayo Ogunruku appreciated the emir for his friendship and accommodation. He said ORNU was established to bring together registrars from all universities in Nigeria so that they can shere ideas n how to improve on their work.
Ogunruku said the challenges in the educational sector are enormous while describing universities as as global and universal community where ideas are generated and knowledge nurtured to improve the society. He stated further that CORNU tries to put heads together to come out with issues that will take the nation higher while explaining that the committee is working hard to ensure that students will not have to wait for ages to collect results and transcripts.
While briefing the emir on the purpose of their visit, the registrar of the University and host registrar, Olufolake Oyeyemi, said by law the registrars are the secretary to the council to the various Universities and the next to the Vice Chancellors.She said their duties are to advice the VCs and assist them in various duties among others while stating that they have come together to deliberate, consult and see how they can all unanimously come together to develop their various universities.
Oyeyemi informed members of CORNU of the peace, love and friendship existing in Kwara state describing it as the sterling leadership qualities of the emir of Ilorin and chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council.
