OPINION: The Change We Need. By Sambo Muritala
Many a time I laugh at the comical disposition of politicians of our generation and more specifically in this weeping State of ours, Kwara State. It is saddening to see the so called politicians we all choose to showcase our views and interests attaching no probative value to our views and interests rather, they are swallowed in their own interests and views which empower them in waging war against the electorates who placed their trust in them.
I weep again for my noble state, Kwara State. It is a glaring war emanating from Dr. Bukola Saraki and his political ingredients who claimed to have given us clean water at our doorsteps when our women's buckets are glued to their heads; our children miss morning lectures and their rhythm movement in search of water colors our humble state in abject poverty. What else can a clueless governor do to maintain a regular supply of running water from untapped natural water at Asa-Dam when he can not control the unjustifiable price of sachet water in the state?
For such an incompetent governor and government the masses paid twice what is paid in neighboring states to get a drinking water. Isn't it a calculated attempt to celebrate our foolishness by claiming to have given us what you did not as if denying us such social amenities is not enough.
When a governor is celebrating digging of invisible boreholes instead of channelling water from Asa-Dam to various destinations, when he is claiming to have empower masses with taxis when indeed it was meant to answer the needs of vehicles for their loyalists who paid back by mere using the taxis for campaign. We are also not unaware of the way tractors are creating awareness for road users, making them believe that their road will soon be constructed. When we talk, you echo 'change'. We are highly impressed by the way you have accepted to preach a Change for the way of your governance. It will rather be too risky to believe in your promise to Change rather it is high time you are Changed.
