Press Release: Ex FCC boss, Prof Abdulraheem betrayed Kwarans - Kwara APC

Date: 2014-10-20

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has dismissed the resignation of Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem from the chairmanship position of Federal Character Commission (FCC) as a thoughtless and greedy action of a desperate politician at the detriment of the good people of Kwara State.

Before anyone or group is tempted to accuse the APC of meddlesomeness into the opposition PDP's affair, we must emphasise that our primary concern is the people of Kwara State whose slot at the Federal Character Commission (FCC) was recently wasted by Prof. Abdulraheem for greedy and personal reasons.

We have no business with the visibly drowning and disjointed opposition PDP and its aspirants, whoever emerges as its gubernatorial candidate will suffer electoral humiliation from the election-winning machinery of the APC in Kwara State.

The media report that Prof. Abdulraheem sacrificed Kwara State slot at FCC due to his unpopular gubernatorial ambition shows that he has failed to learn fundamental lessons in politics. And it clearly confirms the widespread rumour that the politician is only concerned about himself and his family members, not Kwarans who he has betrayed with his greedy action.

As a party, we believe all levels of government, private sector and individuals have responsibilities to undertake in the development of Kwara State. Despite the huge success of the APC-led government in Kwara State which has graduated thousands of hitherto jobless youths to job placements, the need still exist for all stakeholders to invest in the area of youth empowerment and employment.

The reality in Kwara State is that Prof Abdulraheem did not effectively exercise his chairmanship position at Federal Character Commission (FCC). Too many unfulfilled promises, too many lies. What is the fate of the numerous Kwarans who Prof Abdulraheem has promised jobs? What about those Kwarans who Prof Abdulraheem has deceived with invisible job promises? Are those promises now in the catalogue of the countless unfulfilled promises this personality has made before?

Kwarans should be wary of personalities who can not stand by their words. Kwarans should be concious of people whose capacities and competence are highly questionable. Kwarans should be observant of people who failed in less-demanding public offices and inturn seeking higher offices. Kwarans should be mindful of desperate politicians whose singular ambition is to hijack power to milk Kwara State dry.

Alhaji Sulyman Buhari,
Publicity Secretary,
APC, Kwara State.
