Kwara Set To Combat HIV

Date: 2012-05-15

The Kwara Government on Monday in Ilorin  reiterated  its commitment to putting  in place necessary measures to reduce the prevalence of  HIV/AIDS in the state.

Dr  Johnson Oyeniyi, the Project Manager, Kwara State Aids Control Agency (KWASACA), made this known at a work plan development workshop organised for Local Action Committee on AIDS (LACA) and ministries by KWASACA.

He said the state's  development strategic plan for 2012-2015 was conceived in line with the national strategic plan.

Oyeniyi  urged affected government agencies to develop their own work plan to reduce the spread of the virus in the state.

Earlier, the Information Officer of   KWASACA, Mrs Sikeola Babatunde, had  said the objective of the workshop was to teach  participants  how to develop a work plan.

She said the workshop would enable participants aquire  requisite skills as managers and desk officers to serve as trainers and facilitators to their critical mass members.

Also speaking, the agency's Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mallam Abdulkadir Abubakar, stressed the need for harmonisation of all planning initiatives to ensure that all branches work collectively to fight the pandemic.
