Date: 2014-08-16

KWARA State is now confirmed to be FREE from the deadly Ebola Virus Disease!

This was confirmed this evening, as the test results of the suspected quarantined patient that was sent to Lagos just came in, and the result was NEGATIVE.

It will be recalled that there was palpable fear, and scare among residents of Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State, as people thought a 7- month old baby, alleged to have manifested with symptoms that simulated that of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, was said to have been taken to a popular Pediatrics Clinic in Ilorin , Kwara State.

After conducting routine checks on the baby, the Medical director of the Clinic was said to have alerted the relevant authorities of the government, due to suspected Ebola Virus Diagnosis, who moved in swiftly to quarantine the patient in one of the Government Hospitals in Kwara State, designated for such.

What also heightened fear was that the parents of the baby were said to have have travelled from Ibadan to Ilorin.

According to the Commissioner For Information in Kwara State, Mr. Tunji Moronfoye, who said via his twitter handle:

“Kwara state is free of Ebola. The test result of the quarantined suspected patient came back Nagative tonight. This doesn’t mean we rest!!!”

Furthermore, a report obtained from his facebook page also reads thus:

“My Fellow Kwarans, it’s with special Thanks to Almighty God, that I bear this great tidings. Kwara state is still free of the Ebola virus. We have received the result of the test on the quarantined patients. They came back tonight NEGATIVE! That is not to say that we have rested on our oars, we (KWSG) continue to prepare most frantically and assiduously for an onslaught of the dreaded virus. Please continue to be sanitary conscious and careful in your attitude as usual. We all remain prayerful to God to help us out of this scourge that has besieged our great nation.
