OPINION - Abubakar Sulaiman: Like Minister, Like Ministry. By Bello Bature

Date: 2014-07-24

They collected Ministry of Sports, which had a budget of over N50billion and gave us Ministry of National Planning, a do-nothing ministry that has just above N3billion as its annual budget. Yet, the Kwara PDP PRO had the temerity to say we should 'thank' the President for it? What insult!

The truth is, Jonathan gave the ministry that is worth the status of the minister!

You can't blame him for giving the ministry where practically nothing happens to a rookie. Dr. Abubakar is just a 'JJC', and his screening on the floor of the Senate gave him out as a mere bloody teacher that doesn't know more than his average peers. His only major qualification is that he is house boy to Bola Shagaya, and he bows even when greeting Sherif Shagaya (our Rep to be!).

Jonathan is therefore not to blame. If I were in his shoes, I would do just the same!

Imagine if it were the respected Mohammed Dele Belgore (SAN), Hon. Bio Ibrahim and even the least of them, Gbemi Saraki? Would GEJ have ever insulted them with such a low-life ministry in his cabinet?

In Jonathan's cabinet, there are ministers and there are ministers. Check Bolaji Abdullahi's interview in the National Pilot newspaper a fortnight ago, and you will understand what I mean. Bolaji himself, despite his performance and class, was 2nd class in the cabinet. The likes of Ngozi, Stella, Diezeini, Ononomeme etc are the first classers there!

So, where does our rookie minister belong? 10th class!!! This again, is the insult Kwara has continued to suffer because the PDP failed to put its best foot forward in its choice of candidate. You don't bring forward a man whose greatest and 'core' (according to him) political loyalist is Afolabi Wopa-a man who almost ruined the political career of Gbemi Saraki and bled her blind because the latter too was spending like an ATM, thinking that, that would win elections!

Now, let's hope the PDP has learnt its lessons. Let's hope! It is not too late since the party has another two months or thereabout to its primaries. If it failed again, blinded by raw politics and ego, and picks a 2nd rated gubernatorial candidate that is only meant to play second fiddle, God helps it!

They took Sports ministry and dashed us National Planning!

To all those that are embarrassing Kwara like this, because of selfish interest, 'gbogbo yin nu olohun nu'!
