Gov Ahmed in Saudi Arabia, urges prayers for Nigeria
Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed of Kwara State has enjoined pilgrims on lesser hajj to Saudi Arabia to pray for the nation's stability and well-being of its citizenry.
Ahmed who is in the holy land as part of spiritual rejuvenation, urged well-meaning Nigerians, particularly those on pilgrimage to Mecca to devout time for special prayers for the country to overcome its present predicaments.
He expressed optimism that Kwara will continue to remain in the fore-front in the area of service delivery to the people.
The lesser Hajj is also being performed by Senator Bukola Saraki, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, Hon Ali Ahmed; Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Toyin Sanusi; SSA Media, Dr. Muideen Akorede; former SA Political, Alhaji Yekeen Ilobu and SA Youth Empowerment, Saka Babatunde among others.
Speaking with The Herald in Medina, the All Progressives Congress Woman Leader in Kwara State, Hajia Adebayo Sarah, called on the Nigeria government to go into strong bilateral relationship with Saudi Arabia as a way of improving the country's economy status.
Hajia Adebayo noted that Nigeria can exploit such opportunity to improve its economy, pointing out that Nigerians in Saudi Arabia are committing huge amount of money into Saudi Arabian economy through purchase of various items. According to her, Saudi Arabia is a desert nation and still enjoying booming economy and wondered why Nigeria that is blessed with both human and natural resources is not doing well economically.
Speaking on her experience at the lesser hajj, Hajia Adebayo who commended the state government for its effort in transporting the pilgrims to lesser hajj, appealed for a revise to the old system where pilgrims are airlifted directly to Jedda from Ilorin International Airport.
In a related interview, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on legal matters, Alhaji Mohammed Atolagbe Suleiman also appealed to the state government and airline operators to ensure proper arrangement particularly as it as to do with Visa in future hajj exercise.
