In line with the state government's Quickwin Intervention Programme, the Kwara State government is to sink 10 boreholes at the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Sobi in Ilorin to ease the challenges of access to potable water at the barracks.
The state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who announced this during a visit to the barracks, disclosed that the state government would, under the arrangement, renovate classrooms at the Army Children Junior Secondary School.
Governor Ahmed, who inspected some sections of the school and quarters, said the state government would take up the responsibility with a view to ensuring condusive learning environment and improvement of the welfare of officers and men of the barracks.
According to the governor, "the Sobi Barracks deserves the support of the state government despite being the responsibility of the Federal Government."
He said, "since the beneficiaries of the services rendered are our children, who will later take up the responsibility of directing the affairs of the state and, indeed, the nation in the future, they deserve our support at all times."
The governor directed officials of the state government to liaise with the authorities of the Barracks to identify critical areas of intervention within the next one week.
