Belgore congratulates Fayose, PDP over 'convincing victory' in Ekiti guber poll

Date: 2014-06-22

I congratulate our great party the Peoples Democratic Party and our candidate in the keenly contested governorship election in Ekiti State Mr Ayodele Fayose on the convincing victory in the poll.

The triumph of Mr Fayose once again tells me that there is limit to propaganda - no matter how well-oiled and smoothly delivered it is.

Riding on the back of overwhelming votes of the highly-rated Ekiti voting public, the ease with which Governor-elect Fayose pummelled his opponents helped to confirm that he truly enjoys the confidence of the ordinary man on the street of Ekiti State. I salute him for the sterling qualities that made the Ekiti people to still rally round him despite an unfavorable narrative so boldly told about him by his political opponents.

I urge Mr Fayose to reflect over this massive support and ensure the people get rewarded for their loyalty.

Finally, I commend the highly patriotic roles played by the security agents who ensured that this hugely significant electoral contest happened without any security breach, and the INEC for displaying high sense of duty and ensuring that the election was a great improvement on its conducts in the previous polls. We hope to see INEC display even better outings in the coming years.

Once again, I congratulate our great party the PDP for this significant victory in the heart of South-West Nigeria. It is a sign of the great things to come.

Mohammed Dele Belgore SAN.
