Over 2,000 disputes in areas such as land matters, chieftaincy disputes, unlawful termination of employment, fundamental human right and rights infringement have being resolved using mediation and dispute resolution technique.

The coordinator, Citizen's Mediation and Conciliation Centre, Barrister A. M. Jubril, stated this during a visit to the Kwara State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Sha'aba Umar.

According to him, the visit became necessary in a way to strengthen further collaborations between the centre and the ministry. He further revealed that the service of the centre and the pivotal role of the ministry in relation to community development necessitated the visit.

In his remarks, Alhaji Sha'aba Umar commended the foresight and commitment of the management team of the centre for solving dispute as an alternative to conventional court. He expressed delight at the success recorded by the centre since its inception in 2008.

Royal Times correspondent reports that the commissioner, however, urged the centre to redouble its efforts in ensuring that the centre is established in all the local government areas of the state, so as to help resolve disputes in the grassroots.
