100 illegal immigrants in Kwara

Date: 2014-01-10

The Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 100 illegal immigrants in the state.

State Comptroller of Immigration Service, Mr Nwachukwu Chime, said yesterday the clamp down on aliens was induced by several reports brought to his office on the influx of Nigeriens into the state.

He added that those arrested were in Ilorin under the guise of selling fruits without any travel document.

Chime said the arrested immigrants would soon be repatriated into their countries.

"They have no travel documents on them; they have no papers from any company inviting them to Nigeria for employment; they have no definite places of residence. They just come and lay about and they could be raw materials for insecurity," he said.
