Kwara Utd: We Will Not Entertain Distraction - Manager

Date: 2013-12-29

The General Manager of Kwara Utd Fc of Ilorin, Alhaji Haruna Maigidasanma, has said that the club would not entertain any distraction from any corner in its bid to return the team to the Premier League next season.

Maigidasanma stated this  on Sunday in Ilorin.

He was reacting to an online publication that the club is not in support of Samson Unuanel, the Technical Adviser of the team, saying the Afonja Warriors management is solidly behind him.

He noted that the story is unguided without any substance because the writer did not contact the management of the club before publicing what he described as unprofessional way of practicing journalism.

Maigidasanma said the story was just a distraction met to divert the club’s attention away from the smooth take off of plans to return the club back to the Premier League.

“Let me tell you this if you dont know, it took some high ranking stakeholders’ intervention to convince Unuanel to stay with us”

“We knew he can do it, that was why we allowed him to continue, he is a quality coach with modern experience”

“What led to our relegation at the end of last season was unfortunate, remember we are comfortably in top four before the Warri Wolves incident”

“It is obvious that it was not Unuanel hand work or the players fault that led us to the relegation”

“I’m very sure if it was not because of the incident we might probably be playing in a continental competition now” Maigidasanma said.

The Manager noted that the government which is paying his salary believe in his ability that was why they reconsidered him, adding that they will not be ready to waste tax payers money on what will not bring results.

Maigidasanma said his management is fully committed to bring the team back to the nation’s elite division next term.

“We are almost done raising a team capable of returning us back as soon as possible, that has been our focus in the last few weeks”

“I call on Kwarans both the supporters and fans of the club to support us as we can only do it together in peace and harmony”

“It is not only our job to return the team back to the Premier League, but also by the support of everyone”

“Our fans must also understand that the game of football is either you win or lose and they must take it like that because no team win always” he said.

Maigidasanma commended Sports Writers for their supports at all time, asking them to continue in the same direction with a call on them to always verify issues before they publice their stories.

It would be recalled that Kwara Utd was sitting comfortably at the fourth position on the log before an irate fan of the club attacked a match official in the week 29 game against Warri Wolves in Ilorin on Sat., Aug.31.

The team was banished to Lokoja to play its home games after few home games behind closed doors in Ilorin before it was relegated on the last day of the season after 1-1 draw with Akwa Utd.

Kwara Utd would travel to Abuja to lock horns with the Nigeria Prison on Jan. 25, to begin their campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
