Date: 2013-12-23

With less than 48 hours to the celebration of Christmas, it has been beehive of activities in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Investigations by The Herald yesterday showed that several roads in the city had been jam-parked as a result of influx of vehicles leaving and coming into the city.

A cursory look at Muritala Mohammed Way, shows a traffic gridlock as motorists had hectic time before escaping from the scene.

It was however gathered the influx of the vehicles may not be unconnected with the festivities that are fast approaching.

The traffic snarl which stemmed from Post-Office stretched to Challenge and Unity areas with motorists lamenting the situation.

It was the same scenario between Post-Office and Emirs Road as flea shoppers activities caused serious unpleasant traffic situation.

Despite the traffic scenario, many people were seen engaging in buying and selling by the roadside.

A respondent who refused to give his name attributed the development to the festivities, saying such was normal as people are always in festive mood.

Also, several places including public and private buildings have been adorned with red, white and green colours all in the spirit of end of the season.
