Minister of Works, Architect Mike Onolememen has assured the people of Kogi West Senatorial District of the readiness of the Federal Government to award the contract for the rehabilitation of Kabba-Ilorin road  within the next few weeks.

The Minister, who  stated this  during a visit to his office by the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Senator Smart Adeyemi declared that all necessary processes leading to the award of the contract had been complied with.

He told the Senator that the papers for the contract had been prepared for the attention of the Federal Executive Council(FEC).

"I assure you distinguished Senator that work will surely commence on the Kabba-Ilorin road project very shortly. We have completed the processes in line with the rules and in a matter of weeks, the documents will be presented to the highest authorities for approval," the minister said.

Senator Adeyemi had told the minister that he was worried that the award of the contract for that road was being delayed, as according the him, his constituents had been bombarding him with enquiries over the road.

"Hon. minister, you will recall that I made a similar visit to you concerning this road recently. We were reassured with your declaration, but I have continued to received representations from our people who are worried that the year is running to an end," Senator Adeyemi said.

He however stated that he  was reassured by what he had seen during the visit to the minister.

According to him, the Ministry of Works has completed its part in readiness for the award of the contract.

"I hereby reassure our people that the contract will be awarded in the next few weeks. I have seen all the details as shown by the Honourable Minister of Works," he said.
