G-7 Govs, Baraje bow, accept court ruling on Tukur

Date: 2013-10-21

The Abubakar Kawu Baraje led new Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has finally bowed to the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur led National Working Committee, NWC, saying it has carefully studied and accepted Friday's ruling by the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by His Lordship, Justice Elvis which declared Tukur as the recognised and authentic PDP.

In a statement signed by Baraje led new PDP National publicity Secretary, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, it said the action became imperative following its respect for the judiciary, but vowed that the struggle continues, adding, "Even so, we have directed our legal team to appeal the judgement as a matter of urgency as we remain convinced that we have a good case and are thus determined to ensure that Tukur and his cohorts are not allowed to hold sway as the leaders of our great party."

In the Baraje led faction of the PDP are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, aggrieved governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa; Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara; Aliyu Babangida of Niger; Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto state; Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano; Murtala Nyako of Adamawa and Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State.
