Unilorin reopens for 2013/2014 academic session
While millions of Nigerian students are still groaning under the current ASUU strike, students and staff of the University of Ilorin will resume for academic work after the 53rd Independence anniversary.
The school announced its resumption on Monday.
Students were informed that they would commence immediate registration and lectures at the weekend.
University of Ilorin ASUU members have since dissociated themselves from ASUU National after the devastating crisis that led to the sacking of 49 lecturers.
The sack of the 49 lecturers formed one of ASUU National demands for years. It was on this basis that ASUU went on some previous strikes. Whilst ASUU National went on those strikes, Ilorin was stable and has remained stable.
University of Ilorin, a federal university is one of the most sought after schools because of its academic stability and non involvement in ASUU’s usual resort to strikes as a means of settlement of labour disputes.
