PDP crisis: Kwara women go spiritual

Date: 2013-09-17

As crisis continues to rock the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a group of women, numbering over 1,000 under the aegis of All Kwara Women Confederation, on Monday, organised an inter-denominational prayer session seeking God's intervention in the crisis.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin shortly after the prayer session anchored by the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Poverty Alleviation, Hajia Sarah Adebayo, the governor's aide said the prayer was necessary in view of the political crisis rocking the PDP and the country as a whole.

She said that as mothers, they felt concerned because in any crisis situation, women and children were mostly affected.

Adebayo said that the current political and security situation in the country deserved special prayers so that peace can reign supreme in the country.

She said the prayers would be a continuous exercise, adding that "even in times of peace, the importance of prayers cannot be overemphasised, not to talk of a period like this when the nation is troubled."

She further expressed the support of women in the state for the political leadership of Dr Bukola Saraki and the administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
