Kwara donates Patrol Vans to Nigeria Police

The Kwara State Government on Tuesday presented five Hilux patrol vans to the Nigerian Police to enhance security in the state as part of its Shared Prosperity programme. The donation was in fulfilment of the government's pledge to donate five patrol vans to the Nigerian Police every quarter.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said in line with his administration's commitment to protect lives and property in the State, every step necessary will be taken to support the security agencies in the State. "To us, without adequate protection of lives and property, no meaningful progress can be made as investors will not find it profitable to invest in the state", the said.

Alhaji Ahmed said the presentation of the five van was to complement the ten provided to the State Command in September last year and to enable them police all the major roads in the State. According to the governor, It is expected that with the additional patrol vans the police would be better positioned to combat criminal activities on the highways and protect lives and property of the people.

The Governor reiterated his belief that security business is every one's business, even as he called on well meaning Nigerian to support the Nigerian police. "The security trust fund bill sent to the State Assembly is a further demonstration of government's commitment to equip and give logistics support to the police for improve efficiency and service delivery. Alhaji Ahmed therefore called on the Kwara Command of the Nigerian Police to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring adequate protection of lives and property. Alhaji Ahmed promised that logistic supports would be extended to other security agencies in order to assist them in their operations.

The vans are expected to be deployed to Omu-Aran, Offa and Bode-Saadu Axis of the State. A representative of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdul Bube received the patrol vans on behalf of the State Police Command.
