Saraki, LAK Jimoh now know fate Friday
The People's Democratic Party in Kwara State has expressed confidence that Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki would get justice on Friday as the Federal High Court in Abuja gives judgment on the suit challenging his nomination as the PDP candidate for last year's senatorial election in the Kwara Central District.
The party said there was no cause for alarm as the immediate past governor of the state and his challenger, Alhaji LAK Jimoh, know their fate on that day.
Chairman of the party in the state, Hon Ishola Balogun Fulani expressed the confidence in Abuja yesterday while speaking with newsmen at the headquarters of the Federal High Court.
The reaction of the Kwara POP boss followed the postponement of judgment in the case earlier scheduled for yesterdaytill Friday by the court.
Hon Fulani said that the POP and Senator Saraki do not suspect any foul over the shift in the date of the judgment, adding that the law allows for postponement of any judgment if it is not ready or the judge to deliver it is not around.
He said that the case was a straight forward one and that PDP and followers of Senator Saraki are expecting victory on Friday when the verdict would be delivered.
"We have no cause to fear. We have no cause to suspect any foul play. It is normal for a court to adjourn or postpone a judgment if the judgment is not ready or the judge is not available.
"We will be back on Friday and you will see that we will sing song of victory on that day," the PDP boss said.
Also speaking at the court premises, counsel to Senator Saraki, Barrister Abdulwahab Bamidele, assured that all that needed to be done by the legal team of the Senator have been done and just expecting victory.
Alhajt LAK Jimoh had sued the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission over the nomination of Senator Saraki as the PDP candidate.
The judgment will be delivered by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Ndahi Auta.
