UNILORIN Inaugurates Student Union Members
Others were Prof. Ayobami Omotesho, Dean Student Affairs; Dr. AbdulRaheem Yusuf, Sub Dean Students Affairs, Mr. Dare Akanbi, Director Legal Services, Professor Yisa Fakunle, DVC (Management service); Mr. Abiodun Yusuf, Bursar; Dr. Joseph Olusegun Omoniy, Librarian, Mr. Patrick Adewumi, Special Adviser on Students and Youth, Kwara State Government and Mr. Emmaunel Obafemi, Registrar.
Prof. Omotesho in this welcome address congratulated the new executives and appreciated the out gone executives for their performance, he urge the elected executives to continue the good legacies of their predecessors. “ I believe this new executives are unique because they were elected through an e-voting system which was it first kind in Nigeria and also had four female elected at the Central Executive Council (C.E.C). I pray you will be able to carry on the mantle properly”
The Vice Chancellor in his address said “ you will agree with me that today is a day to be remember by both students and the school management. The last students union administration has been supportive and has never disappointed me for once. Assuming the students union constitution allowed 2nd term I would have love them to continue because they are hard working and they handle issues with maturity.
He added that “ they are really servants of the people, they brought new dimension of unionism because they identify problems with solutions. When we say Unilorin is better by far they have really put it into practice and that is what unionism should be about.
“ They would be different threat form people, don’t agree. Service your people with your best. Run away from naira because it can nail you. Next year we want to celebrate you like the past executives . keep in torch with the school management to dialogue and solve problem together, my office is open always for you.
“ I congratulate and urge you not to be intimidated by the past administration you should set a path for yourselves to follow.”
Mr. Yakubu Ishowo, President 2014/2015 session in his inaugural address appreciate the school management and outgone administration for the successful completion of their tenure with meticulous achievements.
“ I want us to know that the responsibility saddled before us as a leader is challenging and we need to serve with our strength in order to keep our flag flying. I want us to know that today, I have added one thing to what God will question me on in the hereafter. So, I must serve to excel. I appreciate the entire students of the better by far university for the trust you have in me to give your mandate and also seek for your support in ensuring that we serve well because it is our responsibility to keep the university moving.
At the event, Award of excellence in conjunction with hall of fame was presented to the Vice Chancellor, Awards of excellence was also presented to Dean and Sub Dean, Student Affairs Unit while outgone executives was also presented awards of excellence.
The executives for 2014/2015 session are Mr. Yakubu Ishowo, President; Anifowowshe Tawakalit, Vice President(Permanent site); Alabi Elizabeth, Vice president(College of Health Sciences); Kadiri Kofoworola, General Secretary; Oseni Salmat, Ass. General Secretary; Oluwole Faith, Finicial Secretary; Ayinde Mudashiru, Sport Secretary;Adeniran AbdulAkeem, P.R.O; Muhammed Lawal Walfare Secretary (Permanent Site); Bakare Hammed, Welfare Secretary (College of Health Sciences); Amadasun Osaretin, Social Secretary and Haruna Wasiu; Senate President.
