Court remands 3 suspected armed robbers
A Chief Magistrate Court in Ilorin has ordered the remand of three suspected armed robbers for allegedly robbing a resident of the area of property worth N2.2 million.
The accused, Afolabi Dele, 25, Shuaibu Ademola Nasiru, 23, and Rasheed Kazeem, 35, were brought before the court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery and receipt of stolen property.
The offences according to the constitution, contravene Sections 97 of the Panel Code and 1(2) of the Armed Robbery and Fire Arms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11, Laws of the Federation.
The accused and others, who are still at large, were alleged to have on December, 12, 2011, invaded the residence of one Moshood Mohammed at Ogidi Oloje Area, Ilorin and robbed him of a Toyota Camry car with registration number KWARA AR 850 LRN valued at N1.2 million.
Other items allegedly carted away by the suspects include, two television sets valued at N185,000, a home theatre video player, laptop with printer, digital camera and a blackberry phone valued at N55,000.
The Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that investigation conducted by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ilorin revealed that the stolen phone was traced to one Olagunju Tunrayo, and that on February 21, 2012. The prosecutor, Inspector Moshood Adebayo objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand the first and second accused at the federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, and the third at the SARS office, Ilorin, pending the outcome of the case. Chief Magistrate Lekan Adegbite agreed with the prosecutor, and ordered that the accused be remanded. He later adjourned the case till March 29, 2012.
