Ad Agencies Urged to Support Specialised Publications

Date: 2013-09-08

Advertising practitioners have been tasked on the need to support specialised publications to improve professionalism in Nigeria.

Speaking at the unveiling of the special edition of Brand Campaign, a wholly marketing communication magazine, a former Commissioner for Health in Kwara State and publisher of Healthcare Magazine, Dr. Bola Olaosebikan said industry publications contribute immensely to the knowledge based of the targeted industry and that they often need the support of players to survive.

Olaosebikan, who has been publishing ‘Healthcare’ for decades expressed his concern over the recent decline in advertising budget, which he claimed had started telling on the fortune of the newspaper and magazine industry.

He described ‘Brand Campaign’ as an authoritative voice in the marketing communication industry which would go a long way in shaping the practice and business in the industry.

“Since the day I got the first edition of Brand campaign, I have not missed any edition and I can confidently say that it is a blessing to Marketing Communication industry. Aside the fact that it would help the industry; it will be a reference point to practitioners and students of marketing communications. I therefore call on practitioners to support the magazine with adverts and if possible; investment,  to be able to stand the test of time because there are many challenges facing the newspaper industry”.

The publisher of the marketing  magazine, Mr. Dickson Akinwumi, said the magazine had remained in the market for over two years because of the support it got from brand owners and advertising practitioners. He promised his readers that his team would strive to uphold the standard that was set for it from day one as well as improve on its contents.

“Despite the harsh economic situation, I must confess that the support we are getting from many agencies and a few brand owners have helped us remain in the market. I’m assuring our teeming supporters and readers that we will continue to uphold the industry standards to serve them better.”
