Offa Rerun: NLC Boss Asks KWASIEC To Declare Popoola Winner

Date: 2013-09-07

The Vice President of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Issa Aremu has urged the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) to declare Saheed Popoola as the true winner of the Chairmanship re run elections of Offa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara state.

Aremu told The Guardian yesterday in Ilorin, said the mere fact that one of the councillorship candidates in the polls credited with victory had rejected it, citing fraudulent practices, should form enough reason for the KWASIEC to bury its head in shame and announce the true winner of the election.

Jimoh Olawole of Shawo South West ward, said to have represented the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the August 31st elections had rejected the victory credited to him by the KWASIEC.
