Unemployment, poverty causes of insecurity in Nigeria - Faliat Salaudeen
Falilat Salaudeen, Chief Executive Director, Excellent Initiatives for Poverty Alleviation, yesterday attributed the insecurity situation in some parts of the country to lack of employment.
She stated this while speaking to newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State capital during the 8th year anniversary of the group and its investors' day.
According to her, there was the need to empower the youth and women for the purpose of crime reduction and for them to contribute significantly to national productivity.
Salaudeen disclosed that the group had embarked on many projects that would help alleviate poverty and empower the youth.
She said, "Empowerment of youth will reduce insecurity in the country. The problem of insecurity is as a result of poverty.
"In view of the enormous achievements and project we have, we are soliciting for the financial and moral support of every body in the society to enable us to execute our projects on agriculture and the establishment of institutions.
Continuing, she added, "This will enable our target groups (youth and women) to be self-employed. Our programmes are complementing the effort of the government and they are social relief services which are also operational in advanced countries."
