The Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin is set to host a meeting of the Council of heads of polytechnics and colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COHEADS).

The school rector, Alhaji Mas'ud Elelu addressing journalists at the school conference hall ahead of the meeting said the meeting would hold between Monday, August 19th and  Wednesday, August 21st 2013.

Elelu mentioned that the meeting scheduled to hold at Kwara State Polytechnic  because of school's track record and the peaceful co-existence of people  in the state.

He also said that the event would be declared open by the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, and that members of the COHEADS would visit the government house and the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari respectively.

He said the meeting would be attended by all the heads of polytechnics, colleges of Technologies  across  Nigeria.

The rector, while soliciting for the support and cooperation of all the staff, students of the institution including the media in the state mentioned that adequate preparation has been put in place to ensure a hitch free event.

Elelu made it known that several programmes have been lined up during the period of the COHEADS meeting in the state.

The rector while speaking on the activity of the institution toward checking the menace of examination malpractices said the institution has introduced conference marking of student's examination papers.

He added that the conference marking has assisted in reducing examination malpractices in the school.
