SWAN holds NEC meeting in Kwara State
Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara will host the first expanded SWAN National Executive Council (NEC) meeting between Friday 16th-18th August, 2013, in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
A statement signed by Jimoh Bashir, the Secretary of Kwara SWAN said, the state was selected because of the prevailing peace, as well as the achievements of the present administration, especially in sports development.
The meeting is the first since the National Congress that brought the present National Executive body into office.
The meeting will review activities of SWAN so far, draw long and short term plans, and also discuss the future of sports development in Nigeria.
SWAN will use the opportunity to visit sports development institutions and some sports facilities in the state during the visit, and as well, pay a courtesy call on the state Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The NEC will also use the opportunity to confirm Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, the Pillar of Sports in Kwara as the National Pillar of Sports.
Kwara SWAN therefore, commend the state government, under the able leadership of Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, for its support.
The body also commended the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Office of the Special Assistant on Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike and all the stakeholders for their support and understanding.
