Press Release - "APC Registration: Bye-Bye To Insecurity, Corruption and Poverty" - Kwara CPC
We received with delight the formal announcement of the APC by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC). This no doubt signals the beginning of a new dawn in the political history of Nigeria in general and Kwara State in particular. All along, we have never been under any illusion that the registration would be successful because we believed that having fulfilled the conditions laid down by the Nigerian electoral law, it will be inexcusable for INEC to refuse the registration. We thereby commend the courage and fairness displayed by INEC despite the pressure mounted by the PDP shenanigans that went to town with their evil plots to truncate the historic registration.
We particularly commend Nigerians and Kwarans in particular for keeping faith with us all along. As stakeholders of the APC in Kwara State, we promise to continue to not just expand the political space but ensuring strict adherence to the rule of law, respect for rights of citizens and good governance in developing a democracy as ours. We shall in the main term join hands with likeminded individuals, corporate organizations, NGOs and civil right societies in the state to further, albeit more aggressively, the crusade of shaping public policy agenda, conduct civic education and checkmate corruption and greed which is evidently prevalent among the ruling elite in the state. Although the challenge in confronting an entrenched dictatorship in the state is monumental but we are resolute this time to take the bull by the horn, believing that ultimately, our strength lies squarely in our unity!
As a party, we have always considered political struggle to be intellectual, discursive as well as pragmatic, which of course requires quality leadership and resource pool. This therefore informed our resolve to find common grounds and identify our interest early in a bid to forge a united and indivisible front with sister r opposition parties in the state, especially in view of the forth coming local government elections in the state. While it is true that this is neither the first nor second attempt at merger, it is apparent to any discerning minds that this time around, the appropriate steps have being taken to address past mistakes. We have confronted headlong the spectre that haunted previous efforts and past formations.
To the PDP and the current ruling elite, we say: time up! Time up for corruption, greed, indiscipline, insecurity, poverty, darkness and unemployment that is another metaphor for the last fourteen years of the PDP rule in the country. It is a new dawn, and all agents of darkness must now find their proper bearing, because light and darkness sure do not co-exist!
Congratulations for Nigerians!!!
