An Ilorin Area Court on Tuesday dissolved the five-year-old marriage between one Latifat Ibrahim and her husband, Toheeb, over the latter's negligence of the family.

Latifat, 33, a resident of Sango Area, Ilorin, had earlier urged the court to dissolve the marriage due to her husband's failure to take care of her and the two children.

The petitioner told the court that her husband had not been attending to issues affecting the family, adding that he was not bothered about the survival of the family.

"My husband only cares for his mouth because he is fond of satisfying himself at any available cafeteria, not minding his family,” he said.

Lateefat, who told the court that their marriage was contracted in 2008, also said:

"My Lord, I want an end to this marriage because I'm tired of my husband's lifestyle."

Toheed, however, did not object to the prayer of his wife, saying that she was free to go.

"My wife is never contented with the little I give her. She wants everything to be diverted to her use,” he said.

He prayed the court to grant the prayer of his wife without any claim.

The presiding judge, Ibrahim Abdulquadri, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff.
