**Nigeria League club owners seek stiffer punishment for violent clubs as they also inaugurate pre-election committee.

The Club Owners held a meeting in Abuja on Thursday to review the state of the League, after which they released a communique which they called for the joint effort of all relevant stakeholders to move the League forward.

In the communique, the club owners urged the League Management Committee (LMC) to mete out stiffer sanctions to clubs that intentionally prevent live video coverage of matches as well as those involved in the assault of match officials.

With regards to the issue of the title rights and TV rights, the club owners urged the LMC and other parties to respect all existing contractual agreement in order to prevent further litigation.

The club owners also set up a five-man committee headed by Barr. S B Aluko of Kwara United to guide the association on how to approach the upcoming election into the League board.

Other members of the include Dumbor Awanen of Dolphins, Zanna Mala of El Kanemi, Demola Alabi of Shooting Stars and Oscar Keke of Heartland who is to act as secretary of the committee.

The communique also disassociated the club owners from any purported interview to recruit new staff for the League while they urged the LMC to ensure the salaries of existing staff are paid promptly.

The communique was signed by Alhaji Abba Yola of Kano Pillars, the chairman of the communique drafting committee.
