NHIS disclosed that it has put in place the Voluntary Contributor Social Health Insurance Programme, (VCSHIP) and the Community Based Social Health Insurance Programme, to further address the yearnings of the people.

Speaking in Ilorin at the sensitization forum on VCSHIP for accredited healthcare facilities in Kwara State, NHIS Zonal Coordinator, North Central, Alhaji Attahiru Ibrahim said the development was in compliance with the presidential directive.

According to him,the management of NHIS North Central zone considered the programme imperative with a view to partnering with HNMIS in educating the public on the need and desirability of individuals to key into Voluntary Contributor Social Health Insurance scheme.

Alhaji Ibrahim explained that online registration for all the intending members through the purchase of voucher cards at the cost of N 15, 000 per annum has been introduced, adding that HMOs have been directed to market the cards in order to cover the targeted audience.
