KFN introduces karate league
Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) has concluded arrangement to commence karate league in all the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja in due course.
President of KFN, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, disclosed this after the inaugural meeting of the board held in Ilorin.
Ejidike, in a statement said that the league which will be in various categories would serve as a spring-board for zonal and national league competitions in the country.
Karate state league is expected to begin in the next few months when the guidelines must have been given to each karate association in all the states of the federation.
“Karate is a multi-medal sport that can earn Nigeria numerous medals at international meet if properly packaged and I want to assure that our board will do everything at our disposal to make Nigeria great in the world of sport through karate. All we clamour for, is support and encouragement from government and stakeholders,” Ejidike said.
The KFN board also constituted various committees while issues such as registration and affiliation with international bodies, censorship of karatekas, sponsorship of championships and school sport were also addressed.
